Participant Quick Start

If you are a participant (student) and new to web conferencing with Blackboard Collaborate, use the steps below for a quick and successful start:

  1. Is your computer ready? Run a system check from the Blackboard Collaborate First Time User’s Page. There, you may check if your computer meets the minimum technical requirements necessary to participate in an online meeting (Blackboard Collaborate session) and use the open configuration room to practice.
  2. Do you have a headset?  A USB headset with a noise cancelling microphone is recommended. The use of headsets helps prevent echo and feedback in sessions with multiple speakers. Before entering your Blackboard Collaborate session, have your microphone headset plugged in. If you, instead, decide to use a built-in microphone (mic) on your computer to speak, please use earphones or ear buds for listening (audio input).
  3. View the Blackboard Collaborate Web Conferencing Participant Orientation video to familiarize yourself with the process of getting your computer ready for web conferencing and learning the basics of participating in a session.
  4. Download, print, and review the Blackboard Collaborate Getting Started for Participants Quick Reference Guide to have a handy visual map of the particpation features available in Blackboard Collaborate.
  5.  Want to learn more? A complete set of training materials including videos and downloadable guides are available at the Blackboard Collaborate On-Demand  Learning Center.
  6. Need Help? For technical assistance use the Blackboard Collaborate Technical Support portal located at http://support.blackboardcollaborate.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=....
